Faith Lock (“the App”) is provided by AppEffectsUK (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal data is handled responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws, including UK GDPR, GDPR, and relevant App Store requirements.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights available to you.

1. Overview

Faith Lock is a devotional productivity app that helps you stay focused on your daily prayer by temporarily blocking distracting apps until your prayer is complete. It also includes a built-in version of the Bible and tools for tracking your spiritual journey.

Faith Lock does not use or store sensitive religious data on any server. All devotional content, moods, and faith-tracking information remain only on your device.

2. Information We Collect

Faith Lock collects the following types of information:

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Name — entered during onboarding and stored only on your device.
  • Mood and Faith Tracking Entries — includes mood check-ins, prayer progress, and faith-related reflections.
    Stored locally on your device and never uploaded to our servers.

2.2 Automatically Collected Data

To improve app performance, fix bugs, and understand usage patterns, Faith Lock uses the following third-party services:

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

We may collect:

  • Device identifiers (IDFV)
  • Basic device information (model, OS version)
  • App usage metrics (screens viewed, features used)
  • Crash diagnostics and error logs

This data is anonymised or aggregated where possible and does not include prayer data, moods, or devotional content.

RevenueCat

Used to manage and validate in-app subscription purchases.
RevenueCat may collect:

  • Device identifiers (IDFV)
  • Purchase history (subscription type, status, renewal)

We do not collect or store your payment information.

3. Sensitive Data

Faith Lock processes information related to your spiritual practices (e.g., Bible reading progress, prayer completion, mood, and faith reflections), but:

  • This data is stored locally on your device.
  • This data is never transmitted to any server.
  • We do not share, sell, or use this information outside of your device.

4. App Blocking & Screen Time APIs

Faith Lock uses Apple’s FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and Screen Time APIs to temporarily limit access to selected apps.

Faith Lock does not:

  • Collect information about which apps you have installed
  • Collect usage statistics about other apps
  • Transmit any Screen Time data off your device

All blocking logic is handled via the protected Screen Time API, and all data stays on-device.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect for:

  • Improving app stability and performance
  • Understanding general feature usage
  • Delivering and managing in-app subscriptions
  • Ensuring the app functions as intended
  • Responding to support requests

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.

6. How Your Data Is Stored

  • All personal and faith-related content is stored locally on your device.
  • No account is required to use Faith Lock.
  • We do not store your personal data on our servers.

Third-party services (Firebase, RevenueCat) may store anonymised performance or subscription data.

7. Third-Party Service Providers

Faith Lock uses the following services:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google LLC)
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC)
  • RevenueCat (RevenueCat Inc.)

These services may collect anonymised or pseudonymised device data to provide analytics, crash reporting, and purchase validation.

Each provider has its own privacy policy, which governs how they process data.

8. Children’s Privacy

Faith Lock is designed for adults and is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we collect via third-party services
  • Request correction or deletion of information stored on your device
  • Opt-out of analytics (via device system settings)
  • Disable data sharing with third-party analytics providers (in iOS privacy settings)

Since Faith Lock does not create accounts and stores personal data locally, many rights are exercised directly through your device.

10. Data Retention

We only retain data:

  • For as long as you keep the app installed
  • Or until you delete the app or reset your device

Personal data stored locally is removed when you uninstall Faith Lock.

We take appropriate technical measures to protect your data. However, no mobile app or online service can guarantee absolute security.
